IGP: sending Diwali hampers and sweets to India from the UK

IGP, which started out as Indian Gifts Portal, is an online gift shop built for Indian celebrations. If you live in the UK and have family or friends in India, it's one of the simpler ways to get a box of sweets, a dry-fruit hamper or a bunch of flowers to their door: the site shows prices in pounds, standard delivery within India is free on most products, and flowers and cakes can arrive the same day in many cities.

With Diwali in early November and Bhai Dooj straight after, its festive collection is in full swing. Alongside hampers you'll find diyas, rangolis, torans, Lakshmi-Ganesha idols and pooja essentials, plus a separate range for sending Diwali gifts to the UK.

What's worth a look

Here are six Diwali gifts from IGP's festive range, with the prices shown in pounds for delivery in India.

For a small gesture, the Sweet Illumination Diwali Hamper (£7.50) pairs kaju katli with two pink flower-shaped metal diyas and a greeting card, and it's one of the best-sellers on the Diwali page. At the other end, Nutty Delights (£32.50) is a full basket of black pepper cashews, peri peri almonds, pistachios and more, dressed with purple roses, carnations and metal diyas.

In between, the Lakshmi-Ganesha Diwali Gift (£22.50) combines chana badam barfi, dry fruits and snacks with a silver-plated Lakshmi-Ganesha frame and lotus tealight holders, a nice choice for parents or grandparents. The Magnificent Diwali Delicacies Hamper (£15.50) is a good middle option, with besan laddoo, dodha barfi, almonds, cookies and two flower-shaped metal diyas.

IGP also delivers within the UK, though prices are higher than for India. Its UK gifts page lists cheesecakes, Belgian chocolates, cakes and flower arrangements, with the Belgian Chocolate Treat at £56.50 when we checked.

How to save more

• Order early. Flowers and cakes need to be ordered before 6pm for same-day delivery, midnight slots must be booked 24 hours ahead, and courier gifts take two to five business days inside India.
• Pick gifts that ship free within India rather than paying for fixed-time or midnight delivery, and include the recipient's phone number so the courier can reach them.
• You can use either a coupon code or a gift voucher on an order, not both, so work out which saves more before checkout.
