Africa Safari Trips plans private, tailor-made safaris in East and Southern Africa. It's run by Afrika Safari B.V., a Dutch company, and has its own office, guides and 4x4 safari vehicles in Nairobi and Kampala. If you'd like your own guide and jeep rather than a seat on a shared minibus, and you want help planning the whole trip, it's worth a look.
Every itinerary on the site is a starting point. You ask for a free travel proposal, the team adjusts the route, lodges and activities to your budget, and you get a detailed travel dossier before you go. The site can show prices in British pounds: use the currency switcher at the top of the page.
What's worth a look
Here are six sample trips from the site, with the 'from' prices it shows in pounds today.

6 days South Africa: Cape Town, Whales and WinesSelf-drive: hire car and hotels included.£894View at Africa Safari Trips
8 days South Africa: Panorama Route and KrugerSelf-drive route ending with Kruger game drives.£961View at Africa Safari Trips
For a first safari with children, the 9-day Kenya safari and beach trip is marked family-friendly and pairs game drives with time on the coast. It starts from £1,356 per person. If gorillas are the dream, the 12-day Uganda trip from £1,874 takes in quieter corners of the country as well as the big parks.
South Africa works differently here: the Cape Town and Kruger routes are self-drive, with a hire car and hotels included, so they cost less per person but you do the driving. Gorilla permits, park fees and seasons all affect the final price, so read the 'from' figures as a guide.
A few things to know before you ask for a quote. The headline prices are per person, exclude international flights, and assume a group of six on guided trips or four on self-drive trips in low season. Two people travelling in high season pay more. You can see the full price grid on each itinerary page.
Current offers
We don't have any Africa Safari Trips codes yet, and the company doesn't run a sale as such. What it does offer:
- A free, no-obligation travel proposal for any trip.
- The free Hakuna Matata support package with every tailor-made holiday, including a travel dossier, 24/7 support and vehicle back-up.
- A lower 25% payment at booking if you're travelling more than 120 days away, according to the Hakuna Matata page.
How to save more
- Pay by bank transfer if you can: card payments carry a 2% fee.
- Travel in low season or with friends. The per-person price drops noticeably for groups of four or six.
- Compare the guided and self-drive options for South Africa. Self-drive is cheaper, but factor in fuel and park fees.
