BEDSNK makes upholstered beds to order from its base in Batley, West Yorkshire. Its look is the statement headboard: tall panelled, piped and chevron designs in velvets, chenilles and newer textures such as teddy and marble. You choose the size, from single to super king, and the fabric, and on many models the headboard height and storage too. It suits anyone furnishing a main bedroom on a budget that won't stretch to a designer showroom but who still wants a bed that looks like the centrepiece.

Delivery is free to the ground floor across the UK, assembly can be added for £70, and every bed comes with a three-year warranty. Klarna finance is available if you'd rather spread the cost. Free fabric samples let you check colours at home before you commit, which matters here because beds go into production 24 hours after you order.

The range splits into three. Bed frames are fully upholstered to match their headboards, and some designs reach right up the wall. Divan beds are cheaper and more compact, with optional ottoman or drawer storage in the base. Then there are the mattresses, from pocket-sprung to memory foam and orthopaedic, plus footstools and ottoman boxes in the same fabrics. Everything arrives flat-packed, and the fabrics are sold by the metre if you want to match cushions or a headboard you already have.

How to save more

• Order samples before the bed. You can't change the fabric once production starts, and there's a £30 fee for changes or cancellations after 24 hours.
• Think about returns before you buy. A bed can only go back unopened, at the manager's discretion, with a £150 restocking fee, and mattresses can't be returned at all.
• Get your delivery details right. Deliveries go to the ground floor, the courier gives you a time slot the day before, and a missed delivery is charged.
