Centara Hotels & Resorts was founded in Thailand in 1983 and is part of Central Group. It has hotels and resorts all over Thailand, from Bangkok to Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Pattaya and Hua Hin, as well as the Maldives, Japan, Vietnam, Laos, Nepal, Oman, Qatar and Dubai. It suits families, couples planning a long-haul beach trip, and anyone breaking up a Bangkok stopover.
The website shows prices in Thai baht by default. You can switch the currency to pounds sterling, but the hotel will bill you in local currency at the end of your stay. Booking direct comes with a best rate guarantee, your choice of early check-in or late check-out when available, and 15% off dining, drinks and spa for members. The brands range from upscale Centara Reserve and Centara Grand to the more casual Centara Life and COSI.

At the top end, Centara Reserve Samui is a five-star beachfront resort with oceanfront villas and six restaurants. Its Reserve Journey package currently starts from THB 30,080++ for five consecutive nights with breakfast, plus an airport transfer and resort credit. Families heading to Pattaya will like the Grand Mirage Beach Resort, which has a private beach, family suites and a water park with a lazy river. For a city base, Centara Grand at CentralWorld sits beside one of Bangkok's biggest malls and has rooftop dining.
The two Maldives resorts are on the Atollia islands. Centara Grand Lagoon has beach and overwater villas on premium all-inclusive plans, while Mirage Lagoon is aimed at families, with a kids' spa and kids' activities.
