Las Verandas Hotel & Villas is a resort hotel on Roatán, the largest of Honduras's Bay Islands, in the western Caribbean. It sits inside the gated Pristine Bay development near French Harbour on the island's south coast, away from the busier West End and West Bay, with the barrier reef just offshore. You book direct on the hotel's own website, and rates are in US dollars.

It suits couples who want somewhere calm by the sea, families who need more space than a hotel room, and groups who'd rather share a big villa. Divers and golfers are well served too: the hotel points guests to Roatán's reef diving, and the Pete Dye-designed Black Pearl golf course is part of the same development.

What's worth a look

Here are six of the room and villa types, from a simple garden-view room to the largest beachfront villa.

The One-Bedroom Suite is a good middle option, with a separate living area and a kitchenette, so you aren't eating out for every meal. For families or friends travelling together, the Two Bedroom Villa with Pool has two king-bedded rooms, a full kitchen, sea views and its own plunge pool on the terrace.

Around the resort there's a private 1,000-foot crescent of white sand, two infinity-edge pools, kayaks, tennis, pickleball and a fitness centre, plus the Pristine Bay Club House with a lagoon-style pool and a water park. Airport or ferry transfers and Wi-Fi are included. For food, Las Pergolas serves Caribbean-Mediterranean fusion dishes from 7am to 9pm, and the casual Palapa Pool Bar does burgers, pizzas and cocktails. There's also a weekend brunch and a daily happy hour.

• Advance Purchase: 15% off the best available rate when you book at least 7 days ahead, for a minimum of two nights. It's non-refundable and not available over Holy Week.
• Book Early & Save: 25% off the best available rate for stays between 4 January and 23 March 2027. Also non-refundable.

There are also packages built around diving, golf and a five-day "Luxury Caribbean Experience", which bundle extras such as dining and activities with your room.

How to save more

• Work out what's already included. Transfers, Wi-Fi, kayaks and paddleboards come with the offers, so a slightly higher rate here can still beat a cheaper hotel where you pay for each.
• Pick the offer that fits your trip: Family Escape if you have under-12s, the 3-for-2 deal for a three-night stay, or Advance Purchase if your dates are fixed and you're happy with a non-refundable rate.
• Groups can save by sharing a villa. The four- and five-bedroom villas each have king beds in every bedroom and a full kitchen.
