STORY Seychelles is a five-star resort on Beau Vallon Beach, on the north-west coast of Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles. It opened in 2015 and has been owned since 2020 by STORY Hospitality, part of Abu Dhabi Capital Group. It's a long-haul trip from the UK, with the resort about 30 minutes' drive from Seychelles International Airport and around 15 minutes from the capital, Victoria. Package prices on its website are shown in euros.

The beach is the big draw. Beau Vallon is a 3km curve of white sand that the resort says is swimmable all year, with a natural reef about 50 metres out. Behind the resort is the Morne Seychellois National Park, and within the grounds there's a natural lagoon. There are 100 rooms in all, 84 suites and 16 beach pool villas, plus an infinity pool, Sesel Spa, a gym, four restaurants and two bars. It suits couples and honeymooners, families who want a lot of space, and anyone wanting a beach base for exploring Mahé.

What's worth a look

Rates change with dates, so here are the room types to compare when you search.

The Junior Suite with Balcony is the entry point at 55 square metres, with a king or twin beds, a freestanding bath and a balcony over the gardens. At the other end, the Beach Pool Villa has its own pool, deck and cabana opening straight onto the sand, plus indoor and outdoor showers. Families can look at the Family Suite, two junior suites linked by a private corridor, or the 400 square metre Family Beach Pool Villa with two private pools.

• 20% off all room types for stays of five nights or more with promo code ENVIRO, as part of its sustainability offer. It's prepaid and non-refundable.
• 10% off your room plus 20% off local drinks, spirits and house wine at the 1502 Bar. This rate is also prepaid and non-refundable.
• A honeymoon or vow renewal package for €1,150, with a celebrant, tropical flowers and arch, champagne, canapés, a celebration cake, a romantic turndown and breakfast on your terrace.
• All-inclusive packages, plus a Stay & Explore package (minimum four nights) that adds a shared glass-bottom boat trip to the Marine Park, Moyenne Island and Cerf Island.

How to save more

• If you're staying five nights or more, try the ENVIRO code first. It takes 20% off every room category, but you'll be asked to make a sustainability pledge during your stay.
• Book on the resort's own website for the direct-booking perks it lists: its best rate, early check-in or late check-out when available, flexible cancellation and free parking.
• Read the cancellation terms before you pay. Most of the discounted packages need full prepayment and carry a 100% cancellation fee, so get travel insurance in place.
