Hertz is one of the world's best-known car hire brands. The Hertz Corporation started in the United States in 1918 and is now part of Hertz Global Holdings, with its head office in Estero, Florida. Its UK site, hertz.co.uk, covers rentals at UK branches and abroad, and Hertz says it has 11,000 locations worldwide.
In the UK there are Hertz branches at airports and in cities including London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow and Belfast. The fleet runs from small cars and family saloons to SUVs, premium and electric cars, and vans for moving house or for work. There's also Hertz 24/7 for hourly van hire through an app, the 28 Days+ long-term hire service for businesses, and PCO cars for Uber drivers.
Hertz Gold+ (Gold Plus Rewards) is free to join. Members get up to 10% off the base rate in the UK and much of western Europe, can add a spouse or civil partner as a second driver at no charge, earn points towards free rental days and can skip the counter at selected locations. Hertz One offers one-way moves for £1 a day when cars need repositioning, but availability changes, so check before you plan around it.
