Danubius Hotels: Budapest city breaks, Lake Balaton and a London hotel

Danubius Hotels is Hungary's largest hotel group. It began in 1972 as a state company developing spa tourism, was privatised in 1991 and grew into a chain of city, spa and holiday hotels. Its health spa hotels now trade separately as Ensana, so the Danubius website concentrates on city breaks in Budapest, summer holidays at Lake Balaton, family all-inclusive stays in Bük and one hotel in London.

That makes it handy for UK travellers in two ways. Budapest is a short flight from the UK, and Danubius has hotels right in the centre. London visitors can book Danubius Hotel Regents Park in St John's Wood, a 10-minute walk from St John's Wood and Baker Street stations. Hungarian hotels are priced in euros and the London hotel in pounds. The prices below are from-rates shown on 19 October 2026.

What's worth a look

Here are six hotels and deals, from central Budapest to Lake Balaton and London.

For a classic Budapest break, the Danubius Hotel Astoria City Center opened in 1914 and still has its fin-de-siècle styling. It's about a 10-minute walk from the Hungarian National Museum, the Great Synagogue and Váci Street, with metro and tram stops close by. If you want a spa and Danube views, the Danubius Hotel Helia combines a wellness hotel with a conference hotel and has Premium rooms looking over the river.

How to save more

• Join Danubius Friends before you book. It's free, and members also get a reward on arrival at every stay.
• Use the Best Price Guarantee. If you find a lower public rate within 24 hours of booking, Danubius matches it and adds a €30 credit for food, drink and extras. Claims must be made at least 48 hours before check-in.
• Think about the season at Lake Balaton. Danubius Hotel Annabella in Balatonfüred opens only from late April to early October, and the group is currently offering up to 25% off off-season stays in Balatonfüred.
