Balance is the trading name of Balance Leisure Fitness Ltd, based in Dunmurry, Belfast. It says it has been in the gym equipment business since 2003, and it's the official distributor of StairMaster, Schwinn and Nautilus. Much of its work involves designing and fitting out gyms for leisure centres, councils and hotels, but the online shop is open to anyone setting up a home gym. Prices are in pounds for the UK and euros for Ireland. Its older balanceleisure.com address now takes you to balancefitout.com.

The shop covers strength machines, racks and rigs, free weights, cardio machines, indoor bikes, Pilates and yoga equipment, and boxing gear from RDX. It's a good fit for people who want sturdy, gym-grade kit rather than the cheapest option.

Alongside home kit, Balance sells commercial cardio and strength machines, designs gym layouts with 3D planning, and services equipment from several brands. That makes it useful for small studios, clubs and workplaces kitting out a room, and its client list includes leisure operators, councils, hotel groups and the Irish Defence Forces.

How to save more

• Compare a pack with buying the items one by one. The packs bundle a mat or accessories with the weights, and several are currently priced below their usual total.
• Be sure before you buy anything reduced, because Balance says sale items can't be refunded. Full-price returns within 14 days are allowed, but you pay the postage.
• For racks and rigs, budget for installation, which isn't included in the delivery price. Pallet deliveries are kerbside, so plan how you'll get heavy boxes inside.

Orders are usually dispatched within 48 hours, and parcels take three to six business days. The Scottish Highlands, Channel Islands, Orkney and Isle of Man cost extra. For delivery questions, call 028 9060 3053.
