FERGUS Hotels is a Spanish chain of 4 and 5-star holiday hotels, run by FERGUS Group from Palma in Mallorca. Almost all of its hotels are by the beach, in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and on the mainland coast from Cádiz to Girona. Prices are in euros, and the website is in English.

The hotels come in clear types. FERGUS Style hotels are aimed at adults and couples, FERGUS Club hotels are built for families with water parks and the PONGUS kids' club, and some hotels add MAGNUS areas with upgraded rooms and private spaces. That makes it easy to pick a hotel that suits a lively family week or a quieter break for two.

What's worth a look

Here are six FERGUS hotels with quite different personalities.

FERGUS Style Punta Arabí in Es Canar, Ibiza, is a hotel for adults made up of white villas among pine trees on a cliff, with three restaurants and three bars. It's home to the Es Canar Hippy Market, held every Wednesday. Families should look at the FERGUS Club Mallorca Waterpark in Magaluf, which describes its water park as the biggest in the Balearic Islands and has all-inclusive and a quieter MAGNUS area for adults.

If you want winter sun, FERGUS Puerto de la Cruz in northern Tenerife has views of Mount Teide and a pool designed by the Canarian artist César Manrique, and FERGUS Cactus Garden near Morro Jable in Fuerteventura has a spa, rooftop terrace and outdoor pool.

On the mainland, FERGUS Conil Park is a 4-star hotel just steps from La Fontanilla Beach in Conil de la Frontera, with sea-view rooms, pools, gardens and an activities programme for families and couples. Back in Mallorca, FERGUS Style Palma Beach is an adults-only hotel on the seafront promenade at Playa de Palma, with a pool, gym and wellness area, and Palma city is a short trip away.
