HelloFresh delivers recipe boxes of pre-portioned ingredients with step-by-step recipe cards, and you choose your meals from a weekly menu. You can also add extras such as desserts and sides. It suits people who like cooking from scratch but don't have time to plan meals and shop. Couples, families and solo cooks are all catered for. Plans are flexible, and you can skip a week or cancel at any time. You can change your delivery day in the app too. The footer links to a key worker discount and a scheme for collecting Avios on orders, so check whether either applies to you before you sign up.

What's worth a look

• Weekly menu and plans: HelloFresh's own plans page gives examples of three meals for two people (six servings) at £31.49, and five meals for four people (20 servings) at around £69.99. The same page says a box of five recipes for two comes to about £51.98 including shipping. Prices can change, and the plans page shows your exact cost per serving.
• Meal boxes for one: pre-portioned ingredients help cut waste when you're cooking for yourself, with a wide choice of recipes each week.
• Vegetarian meal delivery: HelloFresh says its vegetarian box gives you at least seven vegetarian recipes to choose from each week. Good for meat-free households who want more variety without having to plan their own menus.
• Family-friendly recipes: worth browsing if you're feeding children and want recipes the whole table will eat. The plans page also mentions Calorie Smart options if you're eating lighter.

How to save more

• Price up the full-price box, not just the first one. The £1.82 per person figure is an introductory price. Check the plans page for what you'll pay from the second box onwards.
• Skip weeks you don't need. Skipping is free and stops you paying for meals you won't cook.
• Use referrals once you're settled. If you're happy with the service, the £20 credit per referral comes straight off your future boxes.
• Order only the extras you'll use. Desserts and sides are added to the box price, so leave them out on weeks when you're trying to keep costs down.
