Loch Electronics: Capsule countertop dishwashers from Edinburgh

Loch Electronics is an independent company founded in Edinburgh in 2019, and it concentrates on a single product: Capsule, a compact countertop dishwasher. The first model launched on Kickstarter in 2021, a simpler Capsule Solo followed in 2024, and the company now sells direct through its own website in pounds.

Capsule is aimed at people who don't have room, or plumbing, for a full-size dishwasher. It has its own water tank that you fill by hand, weighs around 12kg and has a carry handle, which is why it turns up in campervans, boats and rented flats. Loch says it handles a two-person load of plates, cups, a saucepan and cutlery in a 15-minute cycle. It suits couples and single people in small homes, and anyone who travels with a kitchen on board.

What's worth a look

• Capsule: the full model in stainless steel, which can run from its tank or be connected to plumbing, uses rinse aid and has UV light. Currently £399.99.
• Capsule Solo: the essentials version, designed to run from the water tank without plumbing. Currently £349.99.
• Capsule UK refurbs: refurbished machines, currently listed from £100.
• Dual Tray: an extra tray that Loch says lets you fit up to 35 items and larger pots. Currently £15.99.
• Travel Bag: a carry bag for taking Capsule on the road, currently £49.99. A spare water tank is also £49.99 and a plumbing hose £15.99.

How to save more

• Go refurbished if you can. The refurbished units start well below the new price, and the machine does the same job.
• Bundle the extras. If you want the accessories anyway, the Essentials bundles cost less than buying the parts separately.
• Be sure before you buy. Cancellations carry a 7% fee, and for change-of-mind returns Loch deducts a £30 handling fee and £30 shipping from your refund. Sale items must be returned within 7 days rather than 14.

You can contact Loch by email at [email protected] or by phone on 0131 618 0700.
