Má + Lin is a small womenswear label that works almost entirely in linen. It was started in London in 2021 by Yue Jiang, a former fashion buyer, and the name joins the Chinese and French words for linen. The clothes are made in Portugal from European linen certified under Masters of Linen, much of it Belgian, and each style is made in limited numbers rather than to a seasonal calendar.

It suits anyone who would rather buy fewer, longer-lasting pieces and likes a simple, French-influenced look. Prices are higher than on the high street, and the brand is open about where its fabric comes from and who makes its clothes.

The core of the range is a small set of blouse shapes in a palette of colours, from white, natural and black to marigold, jade, primrose and gingham. Every so often the brand works with an artist on embroidered versions, such as its collaborations with Laetitia Rouget and Sshepaints, and these are made in small numbers too. Some colours and sizes are sold on pre-order, so the product page is worth checking for dispatch timing before you buy.

What's worth a look

  • Claudine Linen Blouse: a long-sleeved blouse with a Peter Pan collar, front and back, currently £165 in white. Prices can change.
  • Frances Linen Cropped Blouse: a shorter cut that works with high-waisted trousers, currently £150, with gingham and stripe versions too.
  • Maya Linen Trousers: high-rise, wide-leg trousers with an elasticated waist and an embroidered logo, currently £160.
  • Daisy Linen Dress: a long shirt dress inspired by 1950s styles, with puffed sleeves and mother-of-pearl buttons, currently £190.
  • Maeve Linen Wool Blazer: a relaxed, slightly boxy blazer in a Belgian linen and wool blend for cooler months, currently £355.
  • Digital gift cards: available from £10, a simple option if you are not sure of someone's size.

Current offers

  • Free UK shipping on orders over £200. Below that, Royal Mail standard costs £5 and express £8.
  • Free exchanges on UK orders, as long as the item is unworn with its tags on and you ask within 14 days.

We haven't seen a discount code on the brand's own pages, so check this page for any codes we add.

How to save more

  • Pairing a blouse with trousers or shorts takes most orders past £200, which removes the delivery charge.
  • If you are unsure of your size, check the size chart first. Return postage on refunds is yours to pay, but UK exchanges are free.
  • Join the #FriendsofMaLin newsletter, which the brand says is where it shares new products and exclusive offers.
