Modmo is an electric bike brand that sells only through its own website. It describes a team with headquarters in Ireland and a research and development centre in Vietnam, which is where its Saigon bikes take their name. Since 2023 it has been under new ownership, and the shop is now run by Hadebu Ltd. UK shoppers see prices in pounds, and Modmo says UK orders arrive with no added duties or tax.

The range is small and aimed at city riders: people who want an e-bike for the commute, the shops or journeys that are too far to walk but too short to drive. Both bikes are limited to 25km/h assistance, in line with UK e-bike rules, and have five power levels.

What's worth a look

  • Saigon S: the lighter commuter model, around 17kg in size medium with a battery range of about 75km. It's currently £1,295.95, down from £1,795.95. When we checked, only size large (for riders roughly 175cm to 190cm) was in stock.
  • Saigon+: the flagship model, with an enviolo hub for smooth gear changes, a removable battery hidden in the frame and a range of up to 120km. It's currently £2,695.95 (was £2,795.95), but was out of stock in every size when we looked, so sign up for a restock alert if it's the one you want.
  • Test rides: in London and Dublin, Modmo runs a peer-to-peer scheme where you meet an existing owner, hear what they think and try the bike. You'll need to bring your passport or driving licence as a deposit.

The two bikes share core features but suit different riders: the Saigon S is the one to pick if you need to carry it up stairs, while the Saigon+ adds range and gearing for longer or hillier commutes.

Current offers

  • Saigon S reduced by £500, to £1,295.95.
  • Saigon+ reduced by £100, to £2,695.95, when back in stock.
  • Free shipping, with no added duties or tax on UK orders.
  • A 15-day, 100km test period: if the bike isn't for you, Modmo arranges collection and covers the shipping.

Prices and stock can change, so check the product page before you order.

How to save more

  • Ask your employer about a cycle to work scheme. Modmo lists these as a way to get one of its bikes, and they can spread the cost and reduce what you pay overall.
  • Use the 15-day trial properly: ride your real commute in the first fortnight and stay under 100km so you keep the option of a free return.
  • Check the size guide by rider height before ordering, as stock varies by size and the wrong frame is a costly mistake.

Some parts of the site, including the accessories pages, haven't been updated for a while, so it's worth emailing support before you order if you have questions about delivery times.
