Pitod is a small London clothing brand that makes genderless basics: hoodies, joggers, T-shirts, sweatshirts and a few accessories, all cut to one unisex fit. It's run by Pitod Limited, set up in 2022, and it's a certified B Corp, a member of 1% for the Planet and an accredited Living Wage employer.

It suits anyone after comfortable everyday clothes made from organic or recycled materials, and people who'd rather skip the "men's" and "women's" split altogether. Most pieces are GOTS-certified organic cotton, everything is vegan, and items are finished in small batches after you order rather than mass-produced. Prices are in pounds, delivery is free, and UK returns are free too.

The "made on demand" approach is worth understanding before you order. Pitod says it doesn't mass-produce: items are made in small batches and finished once an order comes in, which it says means it never has excess stock to destroy. Damaged returns are recycled back into its supply chain rather than thrown away. The trade-off is a slightly longer wait than a big high-street chain, though most orders still ship within a few working days.

Pitod also covers the carbon from its deliveries by paying carbon removal companies, vetted by Carbon Direct, a share of its revenue on every order. If you're comparing it with cheaper basics, that's part of what the price pays for, along with the certified organic cotton.

What's worth a look

The Rainforest Pitod Hoodie is the brand's charity piece: it carries a wood-textured, leaf-accented logo and 10% of its sales go to Rainforest Foundation UK, as do sales from the rest of the Rainforest Collection, such as the Toucan T-Shirt. For a plainer look, the Embroidered P Joggers come in several colours and pair with the matching hoodies if you want a set. The simple Pitod T-Shirt at £25 is the cheapest way to try the fit.
