PitPat is a British pet tech company based in Cambridge, set up in 2014. It started with a small activity monitor for dog collars and is now best known for its Dog GPS Tracker. The main draw is that you don't pay a monthly subscription to track your dog: you buy the tracker, clip it on and follow your dog on a live map in the free PitPat app.

It suits dog owners who want a tracker without another direct debit, and people who like keeping an eye on their dog's walks, rest and weight. PitPat also sells its own dog food, training treats, a weighing bowl and spare straps, and posts from the UK with next-day delivery on most orders.

What's worth a look

These are six of the main products and bundles, at the prices on PitPat's site today.

The Dog GPS Tracker costs £149 and comes in several colours, some of them limited editions. If you'd buy food and treats anyway, the GPS Bundle at £189 adds a bag of PitPat food, the weighing bowl and two bags of treats, which PitPat values at £209 in total. Owners who don't need location tracking can choose the Activity Monitor at £49, which PitPat says runs for over a year without charging.

Whichever you choose, the free PitPat app does most of the work. It shows your dog's location live on a map (GPS tracker only), a Dog Finder mode that points you towards them, daily activity and rest, weight tracking against a target, and a feeding plan. You can share your dog with the rest of the family so everyone can see the same data on their own phone. Trackers come with a one-year warranty and support from PitPat's team in Cambridge, who answer the phone seven days a week.

Current offers

We don't have any PitPat codes at the moment, but the site has several standing deals. PitPat Adult dog food is 3 for 2 when you choose the 3-bag option. There are three value bundles: GPS (£189, worth £209), Activity Monitor (£69, worth £109) and Food (£49, worth £57). UK delivery is free on orders over £30; below that it's £4, or £1.49 for straps and batteries on their own.

How to save more

  • Compare a bundle with buying the tracker alone. If you'd use the food, bowl and treats, the bundle works out cheaper than buying them separately.
  • PitPat LIFE is optional at £3.99 a month. It adds loss and damage replacement once a year, free straps and batteries, and video vet calls, so weigh it against how often your dog loses or chews things.
  • Order trackers before 10pm on a weekday for same-day dispatch by Royal Mail Tracked 24. Food goes by DPD with a 4pm cut-off.
