Santa's Little Spy sells kits for the Christmas elf tradition, where a cheeky elf turns up somewhere new each morning in the run-up to Christmas. It's lovely for children and hard work for parents, who have to think of a new scene every night for weeks. These kits do the planning for you: each day has its props and instructions, so after bedtime you just follow the guide and set it up. They suit busy families, first-timers, and anyone who ran out of ideas by 5 December last year.

The shop is based at Calder Park in Wakefield. It aims to dispatch within one working day, UK delivery usually takes two to three working days, and it ships worldwide with postage worked out at checkout.

What's worth a look

The range is two kits: one posted to you and one emailed straight away.

The 24 Days Ultimate Elf Kit is the full boxed version. It has 24 daily prop sets, from balloon baths to selfie frames and magic dust, a step-by-step instruction guide for each day, and bonus "magic touch" cards you can use whenever you need a quick extra. You can buy it with or without an elf doll, so you don't pay twice if one already lives on your shelf. The 24 Day Digital Elf Kit covers the same 24 days as printable activity cards and a guide, sent to your inbox. It's handy if you've left things late or would rather make your own props.

The digital kit is formatted to print on standard paper, or you can read it from a phone or tablet. If a boxed kit arrives damaged, the FAQ asks you to email the team with photos so they can arrange a replacement. Orders going outside the UK may be charged customs or tax on arrival. The shop also posts elf ideas on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok if you'd like to see some scenes before you buy.

How to save more

• Only add the elf if you need one. If you already have a doll from a previous year, the kit without it is the cheaper choice.
• Order the boxed kit in good time. UK delivery is quick, but you'll want it hidden away before 1 December, and overseas orders take longer and may face customs charges.
• Check before you buy in the sale: the refund policy says sale items can't be returned.
