Simply Log Cabins: log cabins, garden offices and shepherd's huts

Simply Log Cabins has been importing and selling timber garden buildings since 2003. It belongs to Gudrum Classics, the company behind Garden Chic and Living Chic, and it holds stock in its own warehouse in Northampton. Most of its cabins are made from North European spruce in factories in Estonia and elsewhere in Europe, by brands such as Norland, Palmako, Lasita and Stjarna.

It suits anyone after more space without building an extension: a garden office, a gym, a hobby room or somewhere to sit out the weather. The range runs from compact corner cabins to two-room buildings, plus summerhouses, shepherd's huts, garages, carports and outdoor saunas. Buildings come as kits for you to assemble (or for an independent fitter), and they're delivered kerbside by a truck with its own forklift.

What's worth a look

Six buildings from the Simply Log Cabins site. Prices are "from" prices for the basic spec, as shown today; thicker logs, glazing and insulation cost extra.

The cheapest way in is the Norland Oswestry corner cabin, 2.4m square with 28mm walls, from £1,799 against a was price of £2,290. For a year-round office, the Newark 1 is 3.9m x 2.5m with 34mm walls and double glazing from £2,679, and it's in the Faster Delivery range. If you need room for the car rather than a desk, the Cerland Jean carport starts at £999. And for something a bit different, the Stjarna Shepherds Hut Modern: Small is 2.4m x 3.6m with double glazing, from £4,290.

Current offers

• Faster Delivery range: buildings already in UK stock can be delivered within 7 days, many with reduced prices. The offers page lists the Norland Ollerton 3.5m x 3m from £2,499 (was £3,596).
• Sale prices across the range: the Scottie corner cabin is from £2,149 (was £3,319) and the 6m x 4m Wolverine is from £5,099 (was £5,799).
• 20% deposit: many buildings can be secured with a deposit, with the balance due before delivery.
• 0% finance: Black Horse FlexPay at 0% for up to 6 months on spends of £500 to £5,000, subject to status.

How to save more

• Price the options you actually need before comparing cabins. A low "from" price can climb quickly once you add thicker logs, double glazing or roof insulation.
• Check the order is right before you commit. Most buildings count as special order, so they can only be cancelled free within 7 days, and deposits are normally non-refundable.
• Ask about the price match if you've got a lower written quote for the same building elsewhere.
