Urban Bar designs the glasses and bar tools you'll find behind plenty of cocktail bars, and it sells the same kit to people setting up a drinks trolley or home bar. The family business behind it has supplied branded glassware since 1980, and Urban Bar has been designing its own ranges since 2001. If you like a proper coupe, a weighted jigger or a cut-glass bitters bottle, it's worth a browse. One thing to check first: UK shoppers should buy from urbanbar.com, which prices in pounds with VAT and delivers within the UK. The US store charges in dollars and sends UK customers to the UK site.

If you're starting from scratch, a sensible first order is a shaker, a strainer, a jigger and a bar spoon, plus a few glasses in the shapes you'll actually use. Most home bartenders get by with a coupe or Nick & Nora for stirred and shaken drinks, a highball for long drinks and a heavy old fashioned tumbler for spirits over ice. The site splits barware by type (shakers, strainers, jiggers, bar spoons, mixing glasses and ice tools), which makes it easy to fill gaps. Metal tools come in silver, gold, rose gold and copper, so you can match a set.

Payment is by card, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Shop Pay or PayPal. If something isn't right, you contact the team by phone or email to arrange a return, and refunds go back to the card or account you paid with.
