XTRONS: Android car stereos with CarPlay, built to fit your car

XTRONS makes replacement car stereos: Android-based head units that swap in for the factory radio or screen and add Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth calling and apps. The brand is based in Hong Kong but its UK store prices everything in pounds and ships from its own warehouse in Warrington. It suits drivers of older cars who want modern phone mirroring and navigation without changing the car, and anyone who wants a bigger screen than the one their car came with.

The shop is organised by car make, with custom-fit units for VW, Skoda and Seat, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Fiat and many others, plus universal single-DIN and double-DIN units for everything else. There are also headrest and flip-down screens for passengers, and accessories such as reversing cameras, dash cams, DAB adaptors and fitting cables. Main products carry a two-year warranty, and accessories 90 days.

What's worth a look

Six products from the XTRONS UK site, with today's prices.

For VW, Skoda and Seat owners, the PX94MTVDAB at £299.99 is a 9-inch Android 14 unit with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and the IQ94MTVP at £419.99 steps up to a faster Qualcomm chip with 8GB of RAM. BMW drivers have the most choice: the QUB10NBTH is a Linux-based 10.25-inch unit with CarPlay and Android Auto for 1 to 4 Series cars, down from £189.99 to £161.49.

If you only need one small upgrade, the ACCAM10802 reversing camera costs £29.99. The parking guidance on a big touchscreen is one of the most useful upgrades for an older car.

Not sure where to start? Pick your car make from the menu, then compare the series listed for it. The product names spell out the screen size, the processor and memory, and whether CarPlay and Android Auto are wireless, which explains most of the price gaps between units for the same car.

Current offers

• We're tracking up to 30% off, 15% off selected BMW stereos and free UK mainland delivery over £150 (it's £8.50 below that).
• The Monthly Offers page lists more than 150 reduced products while stocks last, including the Fiat 500 unit at £347.99 instead of £434.99.
• Sign up as a VIP subscriber on the site for 10% off your first order.

How to save more

• Check the model and year range on the product page carefully. Many units are listed for specific generations of a car, and the returns policy allows a 10% charge or refusal if a unit has been installed.
• Combine a stereo with a camera or adaptor to clear the £150 free delivery threshold, though most head units pass it on their own.
• Use the authorised installer finder if you're not fitting it yourself: the warranty doesn't cover units that weren't installed by a suitably qualified professional.
