About Auto Europe
Auto Europe is a car hire broker that started in the USA in 1954, originally renting VW Beetles to Americans visiting family stationed in Europe. It is headquartered in Portland, Maine, and its UK website is run by Auto Europe Deutschland GmbH in Munich. Rather than owning cars, it books them with rental firms, working with big names such as Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Enterprise, National and Alamo as well as national and regional suppliers.
On the UK site you can search and compare car hire at more than 28,000 pick-up locations around the world, from Spanish and Portuguese airports to Orlando, with prices shown in pounds. There's also motorhome and campervan hire in places such as Iceland, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Spain, and long-term car leasing in Europe with Renault, Peugeot, Citroën and DS for non-EU residents staying 21 days or more. Optional extras include Full Damage and Theft Protection, which reimburses a damage excess of up to £3,000, and a Fully Flexible Cancellation add-on.
Auto Europe says it charges no credit card fees, lets you cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before pick-up, and will match or beat a cheaper comparable quote. Its rental specialists are available seven days a week by phone. Drivers under 30 or over 65 may pay extra, depending on the supplier.
