About BiMPY
BiMPY is a UK phone insurance provider that sells cover online. The company was set up in 2011 (it traded as Buymobilephone-ins Limited until 2022), is based in London and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. You pick your phone model on the site, see a price straight away and can be covered the same day.
There are two levels of cover. Essential covers theft, accidental damage, cracked screens, liquid damage, mechanical breakdown and use abroad, and Full Cover adds loss. Both include unauthorised use up to £1,000 and cover immediate family who live with you. Phones from Apple, Samsung, Google, Motorola and Sony are listed, and BiMPY will insure new, contract, SIM-free and refurbished phones up to 36 months old as long as they were bought from a VAT-registered UK retailer or network.
Policies run on a rolling 30-day basis and are paid by monthly Direct Debit, so there's no long contract and no cancellation fee. Prices start at £4 a month, and the excess depends on your monthly premium. If you insure three phones together, the cheapest one is covered free.

- Choose Essential Cover if you don't need loss cover: it's the lowest price and still covers theft, damage and breakdown.
- Check the excess table before you buy: the excess goes up with the monthly premium, and loss claims carry an extra £50.
- Keep your receipt showing the phone's IMEI number, as you'll need it as proof of ownership if you claim.
- Phones bought from private sellers such as eBay or Gumtree aren't covered, so buy refurbished from a VAT-registered UK retailer.
