Your Co-op Energy, now trading as EnergyCoop, is the home energy brand of OurCoop, the co-operative family formed by Central Co-op, The Midcounties Co-operative and Chelmsford Star Co-op. It is part of Central England Co-operative Limited and is owned by its members rather than shareholders. Supply, billing and customer service are run by its partner Octopus Energy, and the two run a joint venture called Younity that funds and buys power from community energy projects.
EnergyCoop offers fixed tariffs over 12 or 18 months, a Flexible variable tariff, and Community Power, which it says is the only UK tariff supplied with 100% community-owned renewable electricity from more than 250 local wind, solar and hydro projects. For every new Community Power customer, it puts £10 into the Powering Communities Fund. All its tariffs come with zero carbon electricity, and there is a Key and Card tariff for prepayment meters.
Because it runs on the Octopus platform, customers with a smart meter can join Octoplus, the free Octopus rewards scheme, and take part in free electricity sessions. Co-op members who switch online and give their membership number get a £20 sign-up reward, and existing customers can earn credit for referring friends. EnergyCoop says it is rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
