Your Co-op Energy now trades as EnergyCoop, the home energy brand of OurCoop, the co-operative formed by Central Co-op, The Midcounties Co-operative and Chelmsford Star Co-op. It's owned by its members rather than shareholders, and its supply, billing and customer service are run by Octopus Energy. All its tariffs come with zero carbon electricity.
It suits households who want a straightforward green tariff from a familiar name, with the Octopus app and service behind it. The stand-out option is Community Power, which EnergyCoop says is the only UK tariff supplied with 100% community-owned renewable electricity, bought from more than 250 local wind, solar and hydro projects. For every new Community Power customer, it adds £10 to the Powering Communities Fund run by Younity, its joint venture with Octopus.
What's worth a look
These are the six tariffs EnergyCoop's own tariff checker lists today. Rates vary by region, so the figures below are the direct debit prices it showed on 13 October 2026 for a Birmingham (B1) postcode, including VAT. The price on each card is the standard electricity unit rate.

For that postcode, the 18-month fixes (Co-op 18M Fixed and Community Power 18M) both charge 25.94p/kWh for electricity with a 56.27p daily standing charge, and 8.44p/kWh for gas with a 28.75p daily standing charge, with a £75 exit fee per fuel. The 12-month fixes are dearer at 28.81p/kWh for electricity and 8.88p/kWh for gas, with a £50 exit fee per fuel.
Co-op Flexible is a variable tariff whose prices usually change every three months. On the day we checked it was the cheapest of the direct debit tariffs at 25.6p/kWh for electricity and 7.9p/kWh for gas, with the same standing charges and no exit fee. Key and Card is the tariff for prepayment meters, at 24.82p/kWh and 55.72p a day for electricity and 7.64p/kWh and 28.19p a day for gas. Enter your own postcode in the checker on the Our Tariffs page to see your rates.
The homepage gives typical household costs too: £149.33 a month for the 18-month fixes, £142.84 for Flexible and £158.33 for the 12-month fixes.
Current offers
- Co-op members who switch on the website and give their membership number get a £20 sign-up reward after 60 days (£10 for gas or electricity only).
- Existing customers who are members can refer friends for a bill credit for each successful switch.
- Customers with a smart meter who pay by direct debit can join Octoplus for free electricity sessions and Octopoints.
How to save more
- Check your own rates before you choose. Fixed tariffs protect you if prices rise, but on 13 October Flexible was cheaper per unit than every fix, so weigh certainty against price.
- Switch online, not by phone. The sign-up and referral rewards only apply to switches made entirely through the EnergyCoop website.
- Get a smart meter if you don't have one. It's needed for Octoplus, which EnergyCoop says includes free electricity sessions when the grid has surplus renewable power.
