Morgan & French is an independent jeweller that makes personalised pieces to order from a studio in the old Victorian fire station in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, and a small shop in Stamford, Lincolnshire. Lisa Morgan started it in 2006 as FingerPrint Jewellery, working from her kitchen table, and renamed it ten years later. Turning something personal, such as a fingerprint, a child's drawing, a line of handwriting or even a dog's nose, into sterling silver is still the heart of the business.

It suits anyone looking for a sentimental gift with a story behind it: new parents, grandparents, couples marking an anniversary, dog owners, or families who want a memorial piece. Because everything is handmade, it is not the place for a next-day impulse buy, but each product page tells you exactly when your piece is expected to be sent.

The Chapter and Verse Story Bracelet is a good example of how the story bracelets work: you choose one to three engraved silver beads on a nappa leather strap, and a wide bead takes up to 200 characters, enough for a line from your vows or a favourite lyric. More beads can be added later. Dog owners should look at the Dog Nose Print Story Bracelet, made from a clear photo of your dog's nose; once Morgan & French has the photo, making takes around ten working days.

For a smaller gift, the hand-stamped Personalised Square Bar Keyring comes in a linen gift bag and is currently reduced. Tolkien fans have the Secret Message Elvish Ring, which translates up to 70 characters into Tengwar script.
