CuriosityStream (now styled Curiosity Stream) is a subscription streaming service for documentaries and factual programmes. It was launched in March 2015 by John Hendricks, who founded the Discovery Channel, and the company is based in Silver Spring, Maryland, in the United States. Its library covers science, nature, history, technology, travel and more, including its own Curiosity Originals.
The service is available worldwide, including the UK, although some acquired titles are geo-blocked and the library varies by country. You can watch in a web browser and on apps for Fire TV, Roku, Android and Apple devices, Android TV, Apple TV, Xbox One and several smart TV brands. There are two plans: Standard, and the Smart Bundle, which adds access to services such as Somm TV, Tastemade, Curiosity University and Kidstream.
When we checked, the website showed prices in US dollars: Standard at $5.99 a month or an annual plan shown at $24.99 (down from $49.99), and the Smart Bundle at $11.99 a month or $39.99 a year (down from $79.99). Its help centre says pricing is also offered in GBP for members outside the US, so the amount at checkout may be in pounds. Plans can be cancelled any time, but annual payments are non-refundable once processed.
