About Hero Wars
Hero Wars is a fantasy role-playing game in which you collect and level up a team of heroes, titans and pets and send them into battle against bosses and other players. It was first released in 2016 by Nexters, a games studio based in Cyprus that is now part of the Nasdaq-listed GDEV group. The browser version is called Hero Wars: Dominion Era and runs on hero-wars.com and Facebook, while Hero Wars: Alliance is the mobile version for iOS and Android.
The game is free to play, with optional in-app purchases that the publisher says are never required. You can sign up with an email address or a Google or Facebook account. The website also hosts a character encyclopaedia covering every hero, titan and pet, with their roles, skills, artifacts and backstories, and the cast has included crossover characters such as Lara Croft and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Nexters' parents' guide says players under 16 need a parent's or guardian's consent and suggests parents use password protection or switch off in-app purchases on their devices. Purchases are generally non-refundable, though the terms allow refunds in some cases, such as within 48 hours if the items haven't been used.
