About Le Boat
Le Boat rents self-drive cruising boats for holidays on rivers, lakes and canals. Its roots go back to 1969, when English entrepreneur Michael Streat started Blue Line in France with eight boats. Le Boat was formed in 2007 by bringing together Crown Blue Line, Connoisseur (which began as a boat builder on the Norfolk Broads) and Emerald Star in Ireland. It is part of the Travelopia group, and its UK bookings are handled by Crown Travel Limited in Surbiton, an ABTA member.
There are 18 cruising areas in nine countries, including the Canal du Midi, Burgundy, Brittany and the Camargue in France, the River Thames in England, Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal in Scotland, the Shannon and Erne in Ireland, Venice, Holland, Flanders, Berlin's lakes and two Canadian canals. Boats sleep from 2 to 12 people and come in Value, Comfort and Premier ranges, including the Horizon and Vision fleets. You don't need a boat licence, as base staff show you how to handle the boat before you set off.
Breaks start at two nights, with weeks and longer trips, round trips or one-way routes. Prices on the UK site are in pounds, dogs are welcome on all boats for a cleaning supplement, and you can add bikes and other extras.
Le Boat delivery and returns
