About TGJones

TGJones is the name now over the door of what used to be WHSmith's high-street shops. In 2025 WHSmith decided to concentrate on its travel shops in stations and airports, and sold its high-street stores and their website to the investment firm Modella Capital. The sale completed on 30 June 2025, and the first TGJones-branded shop opened in Aylesbury on 1 July 2025, the same day the new website launched. WHSmith kept its own name for its travel shops, so the high-street chain needed a new one.

The shops sell much the same mix as before: books, stationery, greetings cards, magazines and newspapers, art and craft supplies, toys and gifts. Many branches also have a Post Office counter, and some carry Toys "R" Us sections, with Hobbycraft and Claire's concessions added to selected shops. The company running the shops is TG Jones High Street Limited, based in Swindon, which was called WH Smith High Street Limited until June 2025.

It has been a bumpy first year or so. In May 2026 Modella announced that up to 150 TGJones shops would close as part of a restructuring plan, so it's worth checking that your local branch is still open before making a trip. The range is also sold online at tgjonesonline.co.uk.
