About Waterstones

Waterstones is a British bookshop chain founded in 1982 by Tim Waterstone. Over the following decades it changed hands several times, including spells under WHSmith and HMV, and took in the Dillons and Ottakar's shops along the way. Since 2018 it has been owned by the American investment firm Elliott, and it is run from London.

The chain operates more than 300 bookshops, most of them in the UK, and each branch carries a wide range of titles alongside stationery, gifts and, in many shops, a café. Online, waterstones.com and the Waterstones app sell books for home delivery or for reservation and payment in a local shop through click and collect.

The main way to save is Waterstones Plus, a free stamp-card scheme: every £10 spent earns a stamp, and ten stamps turn into £10 of credit to spend in shops, cafés or online. Students who join Plus Student and verify their status get an extra 5% off every purchase. UK delivery is free on orders over £25, and returns are accepted for 30 days, either free by Royal Mail or in any Waterstones shop.

  3. Add what you want to your basket on waterstones.com, or in the Waterstones app if the code is app-only.
