About Xplora
Xplora makes smartwatches and first phones for children. The idea is to let kids call and message family, share their location and raise an SOS alert, without giving them open internet access, app stores or social media. Parents manage contacts, safe zones and a school mode through the Xplora app.
The company was started in Oslo by Sten Kirkbak after his young son briefly went missing in a shopping centre. It now sells in a number of countries, and the UK shop is run by Xplora Technologies Ltd, registered in England and Wales. The range covers the XGO3 and X6Play watches, the XploraOne starter phone and the HMD Fusion X1, plus straps, chargers and screen protectors.
Most devices work alongside an Xplora Connect SIM and parental-controls plan, which you pay for monthly or upfront, so it is worth adding that cost to the device price when you compare options. The UK site also runs a blog on children's screen time and family life.
