Airport Taxis is the booking site of Onward Travel Solutions, a Somerset company that has been arranging airport transfers since 2006. It covers every UK airport, from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester to Inverness, Belfast and Newquay, with pre-booked cars running 24 hours a day.

It suits anyone who would rather not leave a car in an airport car park for a fortnight, families and groups who need a bigger vehicle, and businesses booking travel for staff or visitors. You get an instant quote online by entering where you're starting and finishing, and the price you're quoted is the price you pay.

What's worth a look

Each airport has its own booking page, and there's a separate corporate service for companies.

The Heathrow page takes bookings for all five terminals: you pick the terminal from the suggestions as you type, then choose a vehicle. Prices aren't listed in advance because each quote is worked out from the distance, time of travel and number of passengers, so run a quote for your own journey.

The fleet runs from saloon cars that take three passengers and three 23kg suitcases, through estates, executive cars and people carriers for up to six, to eight-seater minibuses. If you're travelling with a buggy, golf clubs or a bike, the Vehicle Calculator works out what size car you need. Drivers track your flight on airport pickups, the first hour of waiting after landing is free, and a meet and greet with a name board in arrivals can be added for a fee to cover parking.

The corporate account gives businesses fixed rates with no surge pricing, one itemised VAT invoice each month and 28-day credit terms.

After you book, you'll get a Journey Acknowledgement email for each journey and a receipt, then a Journey Details email with your driver's phone number and pick-up instructions once a driver has been assigned. Bring that email with you, as it tells you exactly where to meet.

Current offers

How to save more

• Book your outbound and return transfers in the same basket to get the 5% multi-journey discount.
• Avoid 18:00 on 24 December to the end of 26 December, and 18:00 on 31 December to the end of 1 January, if you can, as a 50% surcharge applies.
• After the free first hour, waiting is charged at £24 an hour, so give your UK arrival flight number when you book so the driver can follow any delay.
