Bioethanol-fireplace.co.uk sells fires for homes that don't have a chimney, or for anyone who wants a real flame without fitting a flue. It's part of the Bio Fireplace Group and has a showroom at Greenwich Centre Business Park in south-east London, where it says more than 100 fireplaces are on display. The shop claims over 4,000 models in its own warehouse.

Bioethanol fires burn liquid fuel made from plants, so there's no wood to store, no ash and no chimney to sweep. The range covers freestanding stoves and fireplaces, built-in burner inserts for a wall or media unit, outdoor fire pits, and a big selection of electric fires for anyone who'd rather plug in. It suits flat dwellers, new-build homes and anyone redoing a living room.

What's worth a look

Six fires from the shop's range on 12 October 2026.

The cast iron models from Westbo of Sweden are the shop's front-page favourites. The round Carl stands 95cm tall and gives out up to 2kW, while the boxier Spitsbergen looks like a traditional wood burner. If you want something simpler, the Aduro B1 is a round fireplace 48cm across that sits on the floor.

For a built-in look, the Planika Prime Fire 2.0 590 is an automatic burner insert with three flame levels. Outside, the ROCA fire pit in matte black fibre concrete is 87cm wide with up to 8.2kW of heat. And if you don't want a real flame, the Pride Slim electric fire is a heat-free, ultra-slim model you can hang on the wall or build in.

Delivery is quick for a specialist. Smaller parcels go by UPS, usually next working day, while most fireplaces travel on a pallet and arrive within one to two working days on the UK mainland. Made-to-order models take five to ten weeks, so check the delivery time on the product page before you plan a room around one. If something isn't right, you have 30 days to return it unused in its original packaging, as long as you email the shop first to arrange it.

Current offers

• Free UK delivery on orders over £99, which covers almost everything in the fireplace range. Smaller orders cost £9.
• Orders placed before 3pm on a working day are usually dispatched the same day, with mainland delivery in one to two working days.

There wasn't a sale running when we checked: product pages showed the sale price and regular price as the same.

How to save more

• Check the heat output in kW on each product page and match it to your room, so you don't pay for more fire than you need.
• Visit the Greenwich showroom to compare flame pictures and sizes in person before buying a large model.
• Buy fuel with your fireplace to reach the free delivery threshold, as fuel can't be sent to Ireland or the Channel Islands.
