British Wholesales is a textile wholesaler based in Swan Mill, a listed former cotton mill in Bolton. It supplies towels, bed linen, duvets, pillows, bathrobes, cushions and table linen to hotels, guest houses, care homes, sports clubs, schools and councils, and says it has more than 30 years' experience in the trade.

It's mainly for trade buyers: anyone kitting out a holiday let, an Airbnb, a B&B or a care home will find the pack sizes and prices built for them. There's no minimum order, though, so households can buy single pieces too. Prices are shown with and without VAT, and the more you buy, the lower the unit price.

What's worth a look

The Royal Egyptian Collection towels are the core range, at 500gsm, sold from single hand towels and bath sheets up to boxes of several hundred. "Egyptian Collection" is the company's own brand name: its FAQ says the cotton is grown in the USA and South East Asia, not Egypt. For bedrooms, the 400 thread count cotton sateen bed linen comes as fitted sheets, flat sheets, duvet sets and pillowcases in sizes from single to super king.

Care homes and other contract buyers should look at the flame-retardant bed linen, certified to BS 7175 Crib 7, which the company makes and supplies from its Bolton warehouse.

For guest rooms, the Turkish cotton terry bathrobe comes in an XL fit, singly or in packs of five or ten, and the Greek Key bath mats go up to packs of 1,000. Most stock ships from Bolton in three to five working days, DPD next-day delivery is £4.75 if you order by 2pm, and you can visit the warehouse by appointment to see the products before buying.
