Candyroo is an online sweet shop based in Bingham, just outside Nottingham, and pick and mix is what it does best. It has more than 100 sweets to choose from, and you can fill a pouch scoop by scoop or pick one of its ready-made mixes. Separate vegan and halal ranges make it a good option for households where not every sweet is suitable for everyone, and the party buckets and gift boxes are handy for birthdays.

Every order is picked by hand into a heat-sealed pouch that can be resealed. Candyroo has a food hygiene rating of 5 from Rushcliffe Borough Council and plants a tree with Ecologi for every order. Its own-made pick and mix and fudge come with at least six months' shelf life as standard.

What's worth a look

These are the ranges we'd start with, all priced on Candyroo's own pages today.

The Build a Pick n Mix pouch starts at £7.49 for 500g and goes up to 4kg. Each filling you choose is about 50g, so a 500g pouch holds roughly ten picks. If you need a lot of sweets for a party, the Mega Mix Party Bucket is a 3kg tub of individually wrapped sweets for £23.99, which is easier to hand out than loose pick and mix.

Fudge fans can build their own too. The 500g pouch lets you pick four flavours and the 1kg pouch eight, and you can choose the same flavour more than once. For sweet cables, the cable pouch builder offers 13 flavours, fizzy and fizzless, with each cable 15cm long.

If you'd rather not choose, the premade pouches are made up from the sweets customers pick most often. The Fizzy Pick n Mix Pouch, for example, is £7.49 for 500g or £12.99 for 1kg. Candyroo also stocks American sweets, 1kg pouches of single sweets, Victorian-style sweet jars and gift cards. The free-from filters let you narrow the range to vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free or palm-oil-free sweets. At checkout you can pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or spread the cost with Klarna or Clearpay.

Current offers

We don't have any Candyroo discount codes on file at the moment. The standing offer on the site is free shipping on orders over £30. Below that, Royal Mail Tracked 48 costs £3.49 and Tracked 24 £3.99 for parcels up to 2kg. Orders placed before 3pm on a weekday, or before 12pm on a Saturday, are normally sent the same day.

How to save more

• Go bigger on the pouch size: the build-your-own pick and mix is £7.49 for 500g but £13.99 for 1kg, so the larger pouch costs less per gram.
• Combine items to reach £30. A 2kg pick and mix pouch at £24.99 plus a 500g fudge pouch takes you past the free-shipping threshold.
• Look at the bundles. The sweet cables and pick and mix bundle puts 500g of each in one order for £12.99.
