Desigual is a Barcelona fashion brand that Thomas Meyer started in 1984 with a single upcycled denim jacket. Four decades on it is known for clothes that are anything but plain: bold prints, patchwork, embroidery and bright colour, with a slogan to match, "Love Different". Its UK website prices everything in pounds and covers women's, men's and children's clothing, bags, shoes and accessories.

It suits anyone who likes a statement piece, whether that's a printed dress for a wedding, a patterned coat to brighten a grey winter, or a bag with a bit of personality. Look out for the collaborations too: pieces designed by M. Christian Lacroix appear across the range, and there's a Disney Mickey Mouse collection.

What's worth a look

Here are six pieces from the bestsellers and the sale, with UK prices as shown today.

From the new season, the Floral Velvet Dress from the M. C. Lacroix collaboration is £129, and the midi newspaper dress, printed all over with newsprint, is £109. In the sale, the Long coat Arty M. Christian Lacroix has dropped from £299 to £149.50, which is half price for one of the brand's most distinctive pieces.

Outerwear is a strong point for autumn: the Straight coat with animal print fur is £289 at full price, while sale shoppers can pick up the Medium Embroidered Bag, a red faux leather crossbody, for £59.50 instead of £85. The Printed Sweater M. C. Lacroix is down from £95 to £66.50 and is an easier way to try the brand's prints if a full patterned outfit feels like a lot. Current offers

The sale section has many women's pieces at 30% or 50% off the seasonal price, from dresses and jackets to knitwear and bags, plus separate sale sections for men and kids. Delivery is free when you spend £60, to your home or a delivery point, and usually takes 5 to 7 working days. One thing to check: the UK site doesn't currently deliver to Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Gibraltar.
