Eresin Hotels: three ways to stay in Istanbul's old city

Eresin Hotels is a small Istanbul hotel group with three properties on the Historic Peninsula, the old city around Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. They're all in Turkey and the official site shows rates in euros, but you can book in English and the hotels are set up for international guests. The three are quite different, so the group suits everyone from couples on a city break to business travellers and anyone watching their budget.

When we looked, the homepage showed rates from €120 at Eresin Hotels Topkapı, €153 at Eresin Hotels Sultanahmet and €55 at Eresin Hotels Express. Prices change with dates, so check yours on the booking page.

What's worth a look

Here are the three hotels and the direct-booking packages that add the most to a stay.

Eresin Hotels Sultanahmet is the one to pick if you want to walk everywhere. It's a short stroll from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, and it calls itself Istanbul's first luxury museum hotel: the remains of an ancient cistern sit in the lobby, and Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman finds are on show around the building. Its Mosaic Restaurant is named after a Byzantine floor mosaic.

Eresin Hotels Topkapı is the 5-star option, with 251 rooms, a heated indoor pool, a Turkish bath and the Aqua Life & Spa, which guests can use free. There's a tram stop next to the hotel, and the main sights are within 5km. Eresin Hotels Express, close by, is a simpler 3-star with 41 rooms and free parking. It doesn't serve breakfast or have a pool, but you can pay to use both at the Topkapı hotel.

How to save more
