FlySharp (also written Fly Sharp) is a flight booking site from Southall Travel Limited, a west London travel company registered in 1984. FlySharp is one of the group's newer brands and uses its airline contracts to sell fares in economy, premium economy, business and first class.

It suits UK travellers visiting family in South Asia in particular. The destination lists on the homepage put Delhi, Mumbai, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Goa, Hyderabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Sialkot, Dhaka, Colombo and Kathmandu up front, alongside North America, Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and the Indian Ocean. You can book online or by phone, and the team answers from 9am to 11pm, seven days a week.

FlySharp holds an ATOL licence (5553) from the Civil Aviation Authority and says it is IATA accredited, so flights that come with an ATOL Certificate are financially protected. Fares change constantly, so search for your own dates to see live prices.

What's worth a look

FlySharp sells travel rather than products, so here are the six parts of the site worth knowing about.

Most people will start on the flight search, which handles return, one-way and multi-destination trips and has a flexi-dates option that looks three days either side. Heading out from Heathrow? The Heathrow airport services page rounds up Fast Track, lounges and the Heathrow Express, whose advance fares start at £10 one way.

The flight and hotel search lets you choose nights, star rating and airline, while the insurance page gives quotes by trip type and destination. There's also a travel and visa requirements tool, run by the third-party service Sherpa, so check entry rules before you fly. Bookings made by phone may need paying in full straight away, so have your card ready when you call.

How to save more

• Use the flexi-dates search to find a cheaper day to fly, especially around school holidays and festivals when South Asia routes get busy.
• Get the names and dates right before you pay: changes cost £100 per person plus any airline charges.
• Make sure you get an ATOL Certificate after booking, as only the parts of the trip listed on it are protected.
