Corgi has been making die-cast models since 1956, when the first cars rolled out of the Mettoy factory in Swansea. These days the brand belongs to Hornby Hobbies, and its UK website sells the full range direct: detailed aircraft for collectors, classic British cars, buses, military vehicles and a good spread of film and TV tie-ins. It suits seasoned collectors looking for a specific squadron or registration, and anyone buying a present for a car or aviation fan who'd like something a cut above a toy.

The shop is organised by range, scale, era and theme, so you can browse 1:72 aircraft, 1:43 cars, World War Two subjects or the 1970s, and there's a gift range for buyers who don't know their Mosquito from their Mustang. Many new models can be pre-ordered before release.

Scale matters when you're buying for a collector. Corgi's aircraft are mostly 1:72 and 1:48, its classic Vanguards cars are 1:43 and the TV and film pieces vary, so it's worth checking what's already on their shelf. Each product page shows the item code, scale and stock status, and many include customer reviews. If you're not sure, the gift range and the pop culture section (James Bond, Thunderbirds, Wallace & Gromit, The Beatles and more) are the safest bets for a casual fan.

What's worth a look

Here are six models from the Corgi shop, from film favourites to museum-style aircraft.

For a present with wide appeal, the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 at £32.99 is hard to argue with, and the Thunderbird 5 from the F.A.B. Collection is £39.99. Aviation fans have plenty of choice in the Aviation Archive range: the 1:72 Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIC is £59.99, while the larger de Havilland Mosquito FB.VI is £74.99. Current offers

We don't have any Corgi discount codes at the moment, but the shop has some useful savings of its own:

  • Free UK delivery over £75. Standard delivery (2-3 days) is otherwise £4.95, and next-working-day express is £7.95.
  • 200 free Hobby Rewards points when you join the free scheme, then 10 points per £1 spent.
  • Double and triple points on selected models in the Hobby Rewards Offers section.

How to save more

  • Join Hobby Rewards before you order. Corgi says the 10 points per £1 works out at 10% back in points, and you can spend them on Hornby, Airfix and Scalextric too.
  • Combine gifts into one basket to get past £75 for free standard delivery, or pick a DPD pick-up point for £3.95 if nobody will be in.
  • Check the Last chance to buy section for models that are on their way out of the range.
