About Corgi
Corgi is a British die-cast model brand with roots going back to 1956, when the Mettoy Company of Northampton launched its first Corgi models of British saloon cars such as the Ford Consul and Austin Cambridge. The name came from the Welsh dog, chosen because it was short and catchy, because the models were made in Swansea, and for its link with the Royal Family. Since 2008 the brand has belonged to Hornby Hobbies, the group behind Hornby, Airfix and Scalextric.
Today's range is aimed squarely at collectors. The Aviation Archive line covers military and civil aircraft, mostly in 1:72 and 1:48 scale, while Vanguards covers classic British road cars in 1:43. There are also buses in the Original Omnibus range, military vehicles, film and TV tie-ins such as James Bond, Thunderbirds and Wallace & Gromit, and a gift range for people buying for an enthusiast rather than for themselves.
The UK site sells in pounds and delivers across the UK by DPD, with a cheaper option to collect from a DPD pick-up point. Orders earn points in Hobby Rewards, the free loyalty scheme shared across every Hornby Hobbies brand, and many new models can be pre-ordered well ahead of release.
