About Komodo
Komodo calls itself the original ethical brand, and it has been going since 1988. It was started by Mark Bloom, known as Joe Komodo, after a trip to Bali that summer. The first products were patchwork jackets made from discarded jeans, followed by surf shorts, made in an East End workshop before the business moved to Hampstead in 1989. The company, Komodo Limited, is still based in north-west London.
The label works with small, family-run factories in Bali, Kathmandu and India, some of them for decades, and it was an early champion of hemp, bamboo and organic cotton. Today the women's and men's ranges include knitwear in lambswool and merino, organic cotton cord overshirts and trousers, organic denim, modal dresses, recycled fleece jackets, organic cotton pyjamas, socks and underwear, plus vegan shoes, bags and sunglasses.
UK delivery is by Royal Mail Tracked and costs £4, or is free on orders of £75 or more. Komodo also ships to Europe, the US and the rest of the world, with EU and US orders sent duties paid. You can return unworn items with tags within 21 days for a refund, exchange or credit, but you pay the return postage unless the item is faulty or wrong. The sale section carries clearance lines at up to 70% off.
