Geekbuying: power stations, laser engravers and retro consoles from UK stock

Geekbuying has been selling electronics online since 2012, and these days it's less about cheap gadgets and more about the bigger kit: 3D printers and laser engravers, portable power stations and folding solar panels, mechanical keyboards and handheld retro consoles. A lot of the brands, such as FOSSiBOT, LONGER, VTOMAN, Lofree and ANBERNIC, are Chinese makers you won't find on the high street.

For UK shoppers, the part worth knowing about is the UK Warehouse. Items listed there ship from stock in the UK, prices show in pounds, and Geekbuying says overseas-warehouse orders are processed in one to two business days rather than the two to seven it takes from China. It suits hobby makers, campers and vanlifers, and anyone who likes a handheld console for the commute.

What's worth a look

Six UK-warehouse picks from the Geekbuying site, from off-grid power to pocket gaming.

If you're thinking about backup power for camping or a power cut, the FOSSiBOT F1200 has a 1024Wh battery and 1200W output, and pairs naturally with the VTOMAN VS200 folding solar panel for topping up away from the mains. Makers will want to look at the LONGER Nano Pro, a portable 12W laser engraver, while the CIGMAN CM-S03 laser level is a practical buy for anyone putting up shelves or tiling.

For gaming, the ANBERNIC RG34XXSP is a clamshell handheld for retro games, and the Lofree Flow 84 Lite is a slim, low-profile mechanical keyboard for a tidy desk setup. Both cost under £75, so they're lower-risk first orders if you've never bought from Geekbuying before. Prices across the UK Warehouse move around a lot, so it's worth checking back before you commit to the bigger items.

Current offers

How to save more

• Stick to items marked as shipping from the UK Warehouse. Geekbuying says orders from outside your region can attract customs duties and import fees, which aren't included in the price.
• Check the app before you check out, as some prices and coupons are only available there.
• Test everything as soon as it arrives. The returns policy asks you to report dead-on-arrival items within 7 days, and if you simply change your mind you pay the return postage.
