Jaspacks is a small London brand with one clear idea: vacuum packing bags built for travel. It was started by Elena Galli, who grew up in Italy, has lived in six countries and got tired of choosing between travelling light and packing the extra jacket. The bags compress clothes so they take up less room, which is handy if you're trying to fit a week away into cabin baggage or leave space for shopping on the way home.

What makes these different from the roll-up bags in a supermarket is the zip. It runs right round the edge, so the bag opens flat like a packing cube and you can lay clothes in neatly rather than stuffing them through a slot. You then squeeze the air out with a small USB-C rechargeable pump, or by pressing on the bag if you're travelling without it. There are two sizes, small (30 x 25 x 12cm) and large (40 x 30 x 12cm), in metallic silver or translucent. They're waterproof and odour-proof, so they also work as laundry bags for worn clothes or muddy kit.

It suits frequent flyers on budget airlines, families trying to fit everyone's clothes into fewer cases, and anyone who packs for every eventuality. Jaspacks says fluffy items such as jumpers and jackets compress the most, while denim shrinks far less, so how much space you save depends on what you take.

What's worth a look

Jaspacks keeps its range small, so here's the whole line-up plus its guide to how vacuum bags compare with packing cubes.

If you're buying for yourself, the Space Saver Set is the natural starting point: one bag of each size and the pump for £79, down from £88. Jaspacks says one large and two small bags fit in most carry-on cases. Families can step up to the Family Pack, with two large bags, two small and the pump for £146 (was £181). The gift sets come boxed with a handwritten Christmas card, and you write your message in the order note in the cart.

Current offers

We don't have any affiliate codes for Jaspacks yet. When we looked, the shop itself was showing these:

  • The Family Pack at £146 instead of £181, and the Space Saver Set at £79 instead of £88.
  • Single vacuum bags from £34, down from £39.
  • Free UK delivery, with shipping to the EU, the US and Canada available too.

How to save more

  • Buy a set rather than single pieces. The sets bundle the bags with the pump for less than buying them separately.
  • Only need extra bags? Choose the no-pump option on the single bags and share one pump between them. A spare Mini Pump costs £15.
  • Read the returns page before you order. Unused items in their original packaging can go back within 30 days, but you email first and pay the return postage.
