La Gent is a London-based online shop that picks out design-led homeware, beauty and lifestyle gifts from independent and niche brands. It suits anyone hunting for a present that feels a bit more considered than the high street, or treating their own kitchen, bathroom or desk. Brands include HKLIVING, &Klevering, Régime des Fleurs, Maison Louis Marie, Hasami Porcelain and Craighill.

The site is easy to shop by occasion, recipient or budget, with edits for gifts under £30, £40 and £50. Gift wrapping is available for £8 at checkout, and there are gift cards from £10.

What's worth a look

The Hasami Porcelain Black Mug starts at £31 for the small size. It's one of the shop's "cult classic" pieces and also comes in medium and large. For a desk gift, the Appointed 2027 Year Task Planner is £38 and comes in four colours, including Lavender Grey and Oxford Blue.

Fragrance is another strength. Maison Louis Marie's No.04 Bois de Balincourt perfume oil, a sandalwood, cedarwood and vetiver scent, is £60 for the full 15ml size. A 3ml sample is also available, which is a cheaper way to try it first.

The rest of the range is broad for a curated shop. Homeware covers candles and home fragrance, vases, planters, prints, mirrors and table linen, while kitchen and dining runs from serveware and barware to designer glassware. The handmade Pavone salad servers (£30) are cast in resin with swirls of colour, so no two sets are quite the same. Craighill's stainless steel Summit Card Case (£65) holds up to nine cards and blocks RFID. La Gent ships to Europe for £16 and further afield for £25, and shows prices in local currencies. EU orders under €150 have taxes included at checkout.

How to save more

• Aim for £60 in one order. Two Hasami mugs, or the planner plus a candle, will usually clear the free-delivery threshold.
