Addison Ross is a family-run British homeware brand, owned by David and Sarah Ross, with roots going back to a gallery in the Scottish Borders in 1978. It started out making handmade frames for London galleries and interior designers, and photo frames are still at the heart of the range, now alongside lacquered salt and pepper mills, cordless table lamps, trays, cutlery and backgammon sets in a long list of colours. The business ships from Northumberland, and there's a shop on Draycott Avenue in Chelsea if you'd rather see things in person.

It suits anyone shopping for a wedding, housewarming or birthday present who wants something that looks smart on a shelf or table, and people who like colour-matching their kitchen and dining room. Prices are mid-to-high for homeware, but everything comes with a lifetime guarantee.

What's worth a look

These are the collections that best show what Addison Ross does.

The Bobbin salt and pepper mills are the brand's best-known design. The standard lacquered mill is £59 in more than 40 colours, the smaller Mini Bob in chrome is £39, and Addison Ross says each one arrives gift wrapped. For a personal present, the Print & Fit frames let you upload a photo when you order: they print it, fit it into the frame and send it in a gift box. The 15mm Silver Frame with Squared Corners is £34.

The rechargeable lamps are cordless, so they work on a dining table or bedside without a trailing flex. A 30cm lacquered Rechargeable Bobbin LED Lamp is £126. The Bobbin cutlery has wave-detail acrylic handles and 18/10 stainless steel, with 16-piece sets at £80, and the lacquered backgammon sets are £296, measuring 18.5 by 11 inches with suede interiors.
