Life Charms is a small jewellery brand from Lightwater in Surrey. Its pieces are designed to be given rather than bought for yourself: most bracelets carry a charm and a message for a particular person or moment, from sisters, mums and best friends to new grandparents, retirements and pets. Every piece arrives in a white gift box with a card, so it's ready to hand over.

It suits anyone who needs a thoughtful present at a sensible price. Most single bracelets are £16 and matching pairs £24. The jewellery is brass plated with 925 silver or 18k gold and has an anti-tarnish coating, and the stretch bracelets are about 17.5cm, so there's no clasp or sizing to worry about.

What's worth a look

The Friends for life set is typical of the range: two matching heart charm bracelets in one box, one for each friend. For something with a regional twist, the Highland Cow bracelet has a rose-gold-plated charm and comes on a blue foil card. The newer chakra bracelets use natural gemstones such as jade and amethyst with a silver-plated charm.

If you'd like a surprise, or need several small gifts at once, the Mystery Bags pack two bracelets and a pair of earrings into one bag. Life Charms chooses the pieces.

There's also a good spread of earrings, from small studs at £10 to drops and huggies, plus necklaces, men's bracelets and boxed gift sets. To keep pieces looking their best, Life Charms recommends taking them off for swimming and showers, keeping perfume away from them and cleaning them with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Orders go out quickly: UK delivery normally takes two to three working days, and the brand also ships to Europe (£6) and the rest of the world (£7.50).
