Staysure was set up in 2004 by Ryan Howsam to offer over-50s travel insurance that covered pre-existing medical conditions. It now insures travellers of every age, with no upper age limit, and it's the main brand of the Staysure Group, which also runs Avanti Travel Insurance and Petgevity.

It suits anyone who has struggled to find cover because of their age or health, and frequent travellers who want annual cover. Staysure is a trading name of TICORP Limited, regulated by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission and trading into the UK with Financial Conduct Authority FRN 663617. There are three cover levels: Basic, Comprehensive and Signature. The excess waiver page lists the excess per claim as £129 on Basic and £99 on Comprehensive (which you can waive with an add-on bought at the start), while Signature has no excess. Annual multi-trip policies cover up to 183 days of travel over 12 months, and long-stay cover runs up to 550 days depending on age and region. Gadget cover is an add-on for Comprehensive policies and comes with Signature.

How to save more

• If you'll travel more than twice in a year, get quotes for single-trip and annual cover and compare them.
• Annual policies of £80 or more can be paid monthly through Premium Credit Limited. Paying by instalments is credit, so check the terms first.
• Change your policy in My Staysure online. It's quicker and there's no admin fee.
