About Burns Pet Nutrition
Burns Pet Nutrition was started in West Wales in 1993 by vet John Burns. Its story page describes the early days as a car full of pet food. A Dogs Today article in 1995 helped take it national, and it later set up the Burns Pet Nutrition Foundation charity. In 2023 the business was bought by Assisi Pet Care, and the company is now registered in London. Burns says its food is stocked by more than 6,000 retailers as well as sold direct.
The online shop concentrates on dog food. The Original range uses a single protein with brown rice, such as chicken, lamb or fish. The Sensitive range uses less common proteins like pork and duck. There are also grain-free, puppy, senior, weight-control and working-dog recipes, plus wet food trays and variety boxes. Guest brands include YAKERS chews and Hollings air-dried treats. Dry bags come in 2kg, 6kg and 12kg sizes, with the smallest from £14.99 when we looked.
Delivery is free on mainland UK orders over £40, and Subscribe & Save takes 20% off your first subscription order and 10% off each one after. Burns also runs a free nutrition helpline staffed by its nutritionists, who can help you pick a food and send samples.
