Contactlenses.co.uk is an independent online contact lens retailer run by Crystal Vision Ltd. It launched online in 1996 and calls itself the UK's first contact lens website. Its in-house optometrist, John Dreyer, writes the site's education portal and handles clinical queries, and the company says it follows General Optical Council guidelines on aftercare.
It stocks lenses from the major manufacturers (Alcon, Bausch + Lomb, CooperVision and Johnson & Johnson), including Acuvue, Air Optix, Biofinity, Dailies and Freshlook. There's also its own Crystal range. It covers daily, two-weekly and monthly lenses, toric and multifocal lenses, and coloured and Halloween lenses. It also sells solutions, cases, travel packs, prescription glasses and sunglasses. A substitution tool helps you match optician own-brand lenses, such as those from Specsavers, Boots and Vision Express, to the branded equivalent.
When you order, you confirm that you hold a valid prescription from a qualified eye care professional and upload a copy to your account. UK orders go by Royal Mail first class, with tracked DPD next-day delivery available. Delivery is free on orders over £40, and returns of faulty or incorrectly supplied lenses are free. The site also ships to more than 30 countries and shows prices in pounds or euros.
