About Escape Tours
Escape Tours turns a city into an outdoor escape game. Instead of being locked in a room, your team walks a route through the streets, follows a story, solves puzzles and hunts for small details on buildings, all to find the city's 'secret exit'. You play on one smartphone per team, start whenever you like, and there's no guide. The game is run by Gamified Concepts BV from Uddel in the Netherlands, and the company says it now covers more than 200 cities worldwide.
Around 20 of those are in the UK and Ireland, including London, York, Edinburgh, Bath, Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast and Dublin. Each city has its own historical story: in London you help the pickpocket Moll Cutpurse slip away in 1647, in York it's Guy Fawkes after the Gunpowder Plot, and in Manchester Emmeline Pankhurst goes into hiding. Race the two-hour clock to get onto the Wall of Fame, or take up to 72 hours with one pause.
A team ticket covers two to four people and is shown at £25.95 on UK city pages. After booking you get the instructions and a login code by email, valid for a year. It's aimed at adults and children aged 12 and up, and it suits friends, families, dates, hen and stag groups and work outings.
